Secretary’s report March 18, 1953 Alpha Phi Omega
The meeting was opened by President Swenson at 7:30 p.m.. the roll was called with 13 members present.
Charles Lincoln gave a report on the secondhand book sale. We made a profit of $1.40. We still owe some money to those we sold books for and still have some books to return.
Al Swenson gave us a pep talk and told the fraternity to get on the ball. Al also told of a meeting he attended last Friday with Dean Curtis. The purpose of the meeting is to stir up appreciation in students to have respect for the campus. Our part in this is not big, but we are represented on the committee.
Some of the committees were revamped. Martin Jablonka said he would head up the Fellowship and Social Committee. Ted Small will be the chairman of the Programs Committee. Ross Taylor will be chairman of the Publicity Committee. Members to work on these committees were also signed up.
Dedication of the pledge class was brought up and discussed. The motion was made and seconded, that pledge class be named in honor of Mr. Harold Gore.
The matter of elections was brought up in discussed. It was decided to appoint a Nominating Committee composed of Martin Jablonka, Bill Whitmore, Dave Houston, Charles Lincoln, and Russ Taylor.
The treasurer said that we will be six dollars in the black when all monies are in and all bills paid.
The conference at the Springfield College was discussed. The date for the conference is April 10-12. The official delegate will be Charles Lincoln. He will leave Saturday morning.
Mr. Gore discuss the opportunities and scouting as a profession.
It was decided to initiate, Tom O’Connell at the end of the next meeting.
Other projects discussed were civil defense and welcoming parents.
